It Ends With Us is based on a book written by Collen Hoover. She based the book on her own experiences with DA and her family life. This book has contracted with thousands of women who understand and connect with her story. Being beloved by thousands of people, it was only a matter of time before it became a movie.
That’s when director and actor Justin Baldoni turned the book into a movie starring him as Ryle and Blake Lively as Lily Bloom.
Movies have their ups and downs, but what matters the most is the people’s view. I took the time to ask both people who had read the book and those who hadn’t what they thought about it.
When talking to Miguel about it, someone who has never read the book. He thought the movie was going to be an old-timers movie But after watching it he said “It wasn’t what I was expecting”. He said “I was expecting the woman to die at the end” and was shocked when she divorced him after having his baby. He said it changed his way of seeing things saying “Not everyone is who you think they are” really capturing what the movie was on.
But talking to someone who had read the book and watched the movie was a little different.
They thought the main characters were different from the book to the movie not fully capturing the book. Yet they said the movie was good and was a good way to connect and share awareness on DA and how hard it can be to leave. They said, “It made me more emphatic for people dealing with DA, how hard it is to leave”. They were also very impressed with the details that went into the movie and how they played it out saying “That fact that he hid the fact that he hit her, then revealed it at the end was not expected”.
The movie understands the difficulties in life that many people struggle with, but don’t talk about.
