On February 24th 2022, Russia had invaded Ukraine and had murdered more than tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians. It was just a big news headline during that time and even now but it seems that some people have forgotten about it and the U.S major role in this war. I asked some questions to get the views and opinions of people on this horrific event that is still on going and here is what they said.
One of the first questions I asked was should we be giving them weapons to help them? Their response was ” I don’t believe we should involve our self’s in other nations problems especially war, it could just come back to us and make our economy worse”- Junior Student
” I think that we should help them and reach out for support only because of the lives that are being taken, if we have the utilities to help them I don’t see why we shouldn’t.”- Senior Student
Than I asked how much do you know about the Ukraine war? Here is what 2 students stated.” I don’t know much but I do remember how I felt when I first heard the news. I immediately knew the U.S would get involved and it would anger Putin. I was afraid he would declare war on us.”- Junior Student
” I know that it is still going on and I think that it is wrong what is happening over there. I don’t think starting a war at this time knowing there are people who are powerful who stand behind them is good for Russia.” – Senior Student
My 3rd question that I asked was, Is Russia right or wrong, if so why? Here is what they said, “I would say Russia is wrong in this war because they are taking innocent lives and not resolving it with the presidents themselves. It is wrong to put the people in all of this and having them starve and not be able to get medical help for their injuries since they blew up hospitals.”- Senior Student
” I think Russia is wrong because Ukraine is a small place and Russia is huge and has a great military and well and Ukraine stands no chance against them, then Russia gets mad when people try to help Ukraine but it is just and unfair match.”- Sophomore student
My 4th question was, how do you think that this war has impacted society? Here is what a North Canyon student had to say. “I think that we have grown as a community and realized that war is still a thing that happened and its not just a thing from the past, it has made us more awake and realized that there are mass genocide going on.”- Senior Student
My final question was, what can you do to help? A junior Student stated that, ” I don’t think there is anything I personally can do to help the war but I would assume speaking my mind on the internet, would help get the topic going again and more people would try to get it out there to hopefully put it on top so others could find ways to help the people there.”- Junior Student
