If you have been anywhere for the past week or so, you’ve definitely heard of the Minecraft Movie which recently released. This article will have spoilers so look away if you haven’t seen it yet.
I went to see it in theaters the Sunday of the weekend it released and it was an experience for sure. I don’t believe most people are going to see the movie itself, I think most people are going for the memes such as the “chicken jockey” meme. When Steve says those words the entire theater, in my experience, claps, and even throws popcorn everywhere. If you go to see the Minecraft Movie, please think about the workers that have to clean up after you. Theaters have started issuing warnings for those who throw popcorn or even drinks at the screens. Also, if you go for the movie itself make sure to keep in mind the movie is made for the younger audience.
The movie itself was alright but I think it could’ve focused on the beauty of Minecraft instead and what you could build instead of just a fight with the nether. Still, the fact that the movie was made about Minecraft and included a reference to Technoblade is a huge plus in my eyes. This movie has already broken numerous records, some including the biggest opening of 2025, record opening for a movie based on a video-game, and numerous more. It’s not a stretch to say that people did enjoy this movie, and the unique experience that goes with it. It’s even possible that the social media videos of people throwing popcorn and such are helping the movie gain more popularity. The movie fails to address any real major issues besides maybe brushing on financial problems. Then again, it’s a children’s movie. Also, most of the people I know either go for the nostalgia of the game itself or for the experience. Overall, it was okay.
