Tis the sea-son of prom; the classic teenage celebration idolized in teenage high school dramas. And while not as grand, North Canyon’s prom this year was shrimply amazing albeit not as hyped up as those in the shows and movies. What made this year’s prom so special was because it was hosted at the Odysea Aquarium and had a matching theme; Enchanted Seas which sold the allure of a magical moment under the sea filled with friends, fish, and other aquatic pals shell-ebrating good times together.
After prom ended, students left with tired feet and walked out happy as calms. Additionally, once everyone returned to school on Monday, prom attendees stated how much of a good time they had at prom and how this year’s prom was one for the books which given the stories of how last year’s prom went, Enchanted Seas was a clear success. Most notably, however, people have also stated how much better this prom was compared to last year’s prom with Jasmine Avazpour stating “With this prom, it was special because it was at the aquarium which itself made this prom special but also because we got the freedom to look around the aquarium at the tanks and exhibits.”
Additionally, StuGo member Damariz Ortega filled in on why she thought prom was special because “This prom had much more to do than last year’s which made people feel like they had freedom to go around and enjoy time with friends outside of the dance floor. Additionally, Damariz stated, “With it not being just a dance floor, people who didn’t want to dance could either go sit and watch the fish or go around and take pictures with their friends.”
With these aspects in mind, it is clear to see that having a good venue is key to having a successful prom. Though as Damariz stated, “We are unsure where the 2025-2026 prom will be held but hopefully it will be just as memorable and successful.”
