North Canyon High School has some interesting games coming up in the 25-26 season. In this season North Canyon High School will be going up against 10 different teams including Shadow Mountain Matadors, Catalina Foothills, Glendale, Estrella Foothills, Rio Rico, Maryvale, Washington, Carl Hayden Community, Copper Canyon, and Alhambra. Considerably, North Canyon High School has moved down a league which does mean we will be fighting teams that are going to be a more equal match to them.
Although the outcome isn’t predetermined our chances at North Canyon are definitely higher considering we’ve moved down to 4A. Asking people throughout the school I’ve interviewed or asked about 100 different people here are the most stated answers for specific teams; Shadow Mountain, they have a strong team and are most likely going to be a challenge and harder for NCHS to beat although NCHS still has a chance against them even if North Canyon has won before. Next up Catalina Foothills, NCHS did win last year’s game against them but can they win again? Here’s the community’s opinion; one student says “although we have won in previous years their team is strong and difficult to beat, we might not have a great chance here” here’s another opinion that another student has ” I believe that we definitely have a good chance considering we have won in previous years”. These two opinions conflict but we’ll be seeing pretty soon who had the right answer.
We have a strong team here at north canyon and have been working hard from day one asking around here are some more predictions from students around campus; one student states “We don’t have a great chance against them but I believe with hard work and determination that we can win against Glendale”. Another student talking about Estrella Foothills says “We don’t have very good chances with this game they have a great track record compared to us and we most likely will not be doing great here” but hey who knows how this might turn out. Someone’s words for Rio Rico are “Rio has a high chance to lose to us and I think that we’ll win this one”. Now what people think about Maryvale; this student’s opinion was “although I am not much of a football person I know that they are going to lose to us with our team”. That’s just some of the games that we’ll be playing but those aren’t even off of statistics.
Statistics play a big role in how somebody sees a team for example if a great football team like The Pittsburgh Steelers was to absolutely start failing they would probably be less recognized as a good team. The Washington rams are a higher ranking than NCHS which does lead to the conclusion of NCHS having a lower chance of winning due to statistics. Now CHC on the other hand is a little closer to NCHS’s rating so the outcome is more unknown and a higher chance for it to be a fifty-fifty. Copper Canyon statistic which is another very close one due to their ranks also being very close to NCHS’s rankings therefore statistics make it out to be a tie. Alhambra is a small amount higher ranking wise than NCHS which would indicate a slight increase in skill compared to NCHS.
