Visions and Expectations
The boys of the basketball team at North Canyon High School are up and ready for this upcoming season in November, if not, open gym might’ve already started but that’s okay! Because there are still many upcoming practices to look forward to. Everyone is ready for this basketball season and especially the former players and the new upcoming freshman’s. The players and coaches are ready for what’s to come next this exciting season.
Players Ambitions
For the players, preseason has already started. ¨Preseason has been great, we’ve been working hard to make this upcoming season a great season ” said Rinor Gerbiqi. While the encouragement is good, it has its limits. That is why the boys basketball team is committed to do anything to get to the top this year. While players from the previous season are pretty much all used to each there is still room for new friendships this season. Chemistry within the team has to be strong and important, ¨The chemistry is pretty good, we are getting more used to playing with each other day by day and it will improve a lot this preseason which helps us a lot for when the actual season starts.¨ stated by Rinor Gerbiqi. Without this the team will fall apart, and that will be bad with communication on and off the court.
Coaches Standards
I asked Coach Lopez some questions, the first question I asked was “What do you expect for this upcoming season?” he responded with ¨We expect our team to be competitive and to represent our campus in a positive way. We pride ourselves on playing harder than everyone else we play.¨ Players have many talents and for this season Coach Lopez said that he is still looking for more freshman to come out and play. If it isn’t too late go ahead and go to basketball practice and show off your skills! Also, they have a good amount of players that will help the North Canyon basketball team for the upcoming years. For Coach Lopez, I’m pretty sure he has much experience for coaching basketball. His coaching style consists of passion and through passion they get the most out of their players according to Coach Lopez.
What Lies Ahead
As the boys basketball season approaches the team is practicing and working hard to win the games. Everyone is eager for this season and the players are too! With teamwork, hard work, and focus, the players have chances to grow and improve. No matter the outcome for this season, there is still a chance to build bonds and improve skills, and make memories that will last beyond the final games.
