New media keeps changing and making new innovations and new types of humor including lots of weirder new content such as people going out to public places like stores and libraries and screaming or throwing products on the floor then leaving to let the employees to clean it up instead of them. Although the media is changing the humor is staying pretty similar from office jokes to pranking a friend with a type of joke that could leave them ashamed of themselves.
A good example of this is when somebody in an office per-say puts a disc of a movie on their computer and sets their volume up all the way then waits for them to turn their computer on to have the movie playing at full blast isn’t really that different in shame factor compared to someone falling in a ridiculous way is it? although very recently around COVID time people were going around and ruining employees day by making a massive mess for them to clean and leaving so they don’t have to take responsibility. This student thinks that ” although this content was funny it doesn’t mean it was right even if it makes a couple of people laugh it’s not worth the mental strain that it puts a store clerk or something through”.
However, between 2024-2025, this content has been spiraling down in popularity and having instead of those same content creators who now have decided to go out and give food to the homeless instead. Still this is all for content purposes and really isn’t even about the homeless and even with new and changing content, the humor of making someone feel ashamed or some person goes out and does something really weird along with that of somebody doing something shameful isn’t that different from what comedy was in say 2000. One student says “The humor that is more from today is different from the humor we had in say 2015 but it’s definitely not changing for the better”.
