Dance line for 2025-2026
As the start of the school year arrived, everyone greeting their friends once again. The start of the school year was a fresh start, new hobbies, new academics, and new sports. The football players began tryouts so did cheer and volleyball, and most definitely danceline.
Many get Danceline and cheer just a tad bit confused. Cheer consists more of stunting and bring spirit. Danceline may do that as well, but bringing the hard hitting moves to the function.
The time finally came for tryouts, which lasted for about a week. We were to meet at the dance studio here at the Canyon where a group of multiple people were there to tryout. A variety of all classes put their best foot forward. A nerve wracking feeling that went through everyone’s body. The first day consisted of learning different routines, it ranged in styles of hip hop, pom, the North Canyon fight song, etc. Monday through Thursday of tryouts was constant learning routines and practicing. Looking around the room everyone’s frustration would build up, wanting to make the team. Friday rolls around, the day to tryout for the team. You are given a number, which you will audition with 2 others of your peers. You are placed in front of 3 judges who will be judging you based on different categories. As you approach the door to tryout, your heart starts beating, hands get clammy, mouth gets dry. As you get ready to perform you feel as if you forgot all you have just learned. The second the music starts the rush of adrenaline kicks in, all of sudden all of the nervous disappear.
The waiting begins. As tryouts end we are told decisions will be out later that evening. The hours go by and nothing but waiting. Finally around 8 in the evening, decisions came out. Everyone cheering and posting on their social media stories, showing they have made the team. It had been official Danceline had become a team of 17 people, all who worked hard and were determined.
