In a full-blown match against Glendale, North Canyon came out victorious uplifting the Rattler spirit and their love for the game. Ending in a score of 22-20, North Canyon was able to achieve their first victory in two years. Yes, two years! While it being our first victory, there is still many games left for the season. Only the future withholds the truth on what we can achieve.
After the win, players were overjoyed with what they had achieved. A certain player; Dominic Dampier, “Felt great” since they had “Finally won after two years.” This win, marked a turning point for not just the team but for the school in general. What changed you may ask? What allowed the team to come out victorious is the fact that their “Positive attitudes and avoiding personal fouls,” while “Focusing on problem solving and avoiding conflict” allowed them to out-perform and communicate to a greater extent. This sudden change allowed them to acquire a sense of confidence which had been locked away for many years. What is he looking forward to with the next game? Dominic looks forward to beating Estrella Foothills this Friday, September 19th. He plans to achieve this by “locking in” and hoping that they could come out yet again victorious against another team.
Another player, Isaiah Vazquez felt a sense of security and comfort towards this game. He stated that he “Felt like we were bigger, faster, and stronger” and that their “Chemistry is coming together.” This, offers a sense of hope for the football teams since it signifies that they could achieve great things when they’re able to communicate and withhold themselves when on the field. His goal for next year, is to “Try to withhold them to less than seven;” but what does this mean? If you’re unsure about this football term, it basically signifies that they’d like to hold them down to seven points: no more than that. Isaiah Vazquez, is looking forward to “breaking the tackle record,” not only for this year, but for the next. Isaias Vazquez felt as if he did extraordinary when on the field especially since he had to “fit in a tightened position and fulfill the routes” necessary to come out victorious.
While we don’t have a clue on what’s to come, we do know whom they will verse; that is Estrella Foothills which holds a 3-0 score. With this, we could infer that we’ll need to work even harder and maintain communication if we want to win this match. Only one thing is certain, that we’ll just have to wait and see what unfolds.
