Tiktok, a popular social media platform in which users can post, watch, and share short or long videos on their phones, computers or tablets. It is a platform in which people across the world can talk, and connect with each other. So then you may be asking yourself, “Why is it getting banned?”.
Many concerns over Tiktok have been raised, one of them being about the potential user data collection by the Chinese government, which is a safety concern for the United States. January 19 is when it will be banned. President-Elect Donald Trump has expressed he doesn’t think the app should banned, but many people are unsure whether his efforts will be recognized.
In an interview on PBS News Hour, CIA Director William Burns speaks out about the concerns over Tiktok. In the interview, Burns warns people to be “really careful” when using TikTok and that “it’s genuinely troubling to see what the Chinese government could do to manipulate TikTok.”
