AIA Cheer

AIA Cheer

On December 9, 2023, our North Canyon Competition Cheer team competed in the AIA Spiritline State Championships. It took place at Mountain Ridge High School with around 50 schools competing. It lasted from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Our school’s team was in the division 1 and division 2 groups and were competing against 23 other schools in these divisions. The event was full of wonderful cheer teams and they got to come together and show off their skills. This event consisted of divisions 1, 2, 3, and 4 that were divided up by large or small depending on the size of the team. Our team performed their routine around 2:30 p.m. that day. After they performed, the team met up outside to look at their score and they ended up hitting zero! This meant they made no mistakes during their routine and it was apparent they would make it to the finalist round. North Canyon ended up being the only division 2 small group to make it in the top 5 out of both divisions 1 and 2. This meant they would be able to perform again later that day during the finals! They had about an hour to make any changes to their routine if they wished. Even if it was risky, they took that chance and did amazing. Although they didn’t win any additional awards, they made 4th place out of their division in the final round and that is a major accomplishment in itself.
