At North Canyon , the bell makes everyone move fast. For most students six minute passing period is enough time to talk with friends and get snacks from the vending machine. But for others they act like a race, you have to get from one side to another, up stairs to down without being late. The school thinks six minutes is a fair amount of time. But the hallways are the most stressful part.
The biggest problem is how big the campus is. North Canyon has separate buildings that add time to the passing period. Students have only six minutes to go from across the school to gym with a heavy backpack, plus there’s never enough time to stop in the bathroom.
Another problem is the crowd, when the bell rings all the students fill the hallways at the same time especially by the snake pit. It gets blocked if one person starts talking to a friend in the middle of the hallways everyone slows down. The reason the school keeps the time at six minutes is because if they add more time, school would be longer. But the six minute passing period is just something we deal with because it teaches us how to move faster and be on time even if you are tired. That’s daily life at North Canyon.
