At North Canyon High School, the rising senior class is stepping into a strange in-between moment, not quite finished with high school, but no longer underclassmen either. The juniors becoming seniors are starting to realize that the countdown has quietly begun. One more summer. One more first day. One more year in these hallways that somehow became familiar without us noticing.
Senior year used to feel impossibly far away. Now it feels like standing at the edge of something exciting and terrifying at the same time. There are college applications waiting to be filled out, plans that still feel uncertain, and the pressure of trying to figure out who we want to become. But there’s also beauty in it. We’re finally old enough to look back and realize how much we’ve grown.
To the sophomores becoming juniors, junior year can feel heavy sometimes. People will suddenly start talking about GPAs, ACT scores, life plans , and your future all at once. Listen to the advice, but don’t let yourself become consumed by stress. Your worth is bigger than a number on a transcript. Work hard, ask for help when you need it, and don’t isolate yourself trying to be perfect.
Some of the best parts of high school happen in the middle of ordinary days laughing with friends before class, staying too long at lunch, or realizing you survived something you thought would break you.And to the rising seniors, this is our last full year before everything changes. So take pictures. Show up to events. Speak to people you care about. Let yourself be excited for the future instead of afraid of it.
We are closer to becoming who we’re meant to be, and maybe that’s the most hopeful thing of all.
