North Canyon High School’s girls and boys track and field teams wrapped up an exciting 2026 season filled with hard work, dedication, and growth as your 2026 open State Champions! Throughout the spring, the Rattlers completed with energy and pride at meets across Arizona, representing North Canyon with strong performances both on the track and in the field events, leading to a brand new accomplishment of winning State as the first Division 2 team with a grand total of 56 points, (only having 8 girls)!
This season featured athletes stepping up in the sprints, distance races, relays, jumps, and throws, with many competitors setting personal records and gaining new experiences. Both boys and girls’ teams showed determination all year long, demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship at every meet. Another special achievement on the girls’ side, includes 13-time district champions! As a team, the Rattler women were able to attain this success by special performances of district champions, like Shay Colosimo (800), Lanaya McCloud (High Jump), Saylor McMillon (200/400), Addy Prassas (100), and the fastest of the fastest relays, 4×100 and 4×400.
A remarkable shout-out goes to senior Joseph Guma for breaking the North Canyon school record in the 800 meter race this season. His accomplishment highlighted the dedication and competitive spirit shown throughout the program and gave the team an unforgettable moment during the year.
Our team would also like to give a personal thank you to Coach AJ and Coach Jason for their commitment, leadership, and dedication throughout the entirety of the season. Their support, hard work, and belief in each athlete helped push the team to succeed, and this season would not have been possible without them.
As this season comes to a close, the North Canyon track and field program looks ahead with excitement for the future. The dedication shown by the student-athletes this year reflects the pride and spirit of the Rattler community, and the program continues to grow stronger each season.
