Some of you may have heard of people on Tiktok or Instagram reels talking about a meme reset coming up on the new year. And, you may be wondering what is going to happen on January 1st, 2026. Well, I’m going to tell you what it means.
Basically, the memes this year have been lame. The memes nowadays are just pure brain rot; they make absolutely no sense. Some of the most popular memes of this year include tung tung tung sahur, ballerina cappuccina, the Khaby Lame mechanism, and of course the infamous 67 meme. These memes have blown up across all social media platforms and have filled the brains of the new generation of kids with pure brain rot. I mean jeez, you can literally be waiting for an order at a fast-food restaurant, and the number 67 will be called and all of a sudden, a group of random little kids will start going crazy just yelling 67!!! It´s ridiculous
However, it seems as though the internet has had enough. There has been talks across all social media platforms of a ‘great meme reset ‘ that is to occur at the beginning of 2026. The great meme reset is basically us getting rid of the brain rot that consumes the minds of many and start re-popularizing some of the old classic memes. Some of these old classic memes include Uganda knuckles, Big chungus, 9+10, nyan cat, dancing banana and so many more loved memes.
The internet seems to be looking forward to this big reset. Balance will be regained in the meme universe, and hopefully we can rest peacefully and move on from the brain rot era of memes. And never look back.
