Have you seen students always walking around with drinks in their hands? Most of the time it’s either Starbucks or Dutch Bros because they are both close to the school or home. They have both been around since the early 2000’s and have been getting very popular. Around 2017, Starbucks was very popular for it’s limited time unicorn frappe. Dutch was not as known as Starbucks, but they were pretty popular for their energy drinks and their stamp cards which gave you a free drink after buying 10. In recent years, the popularity these coffee places have switched. Starbucks isn’t talked about that much and Dutch Bros seems to take the lead in popularity, especially with teenagers.
At North Canyon, Dutch bros seems to be very popular. Every morning there’s at least one person in each class with their Dutch Bros drink. I asked around to see what place was better. Six people voted for Dutch bros and four people voted for Starbucks. Ashley Salas says “Starbucks doesn’t have much variety and Dutch Bros is very welcoming and always gives free things”. Paolet Cervantes says “I look forward to the new chai drinks every season, my favorite is the gingerbread chai during winter”.
Both coffee chains are very popular for different reasons, so it all comes down to personal preference.
