Just like all sports it takes a lot to prepare for what we showcase to everyone. Not many people actually realize everything that goes into what it takes to be on Danceline. Many people may not consider it a sport but in reality it is exactly the same. We go to practice and work just like everyone else.
Our typical routine usually consists of practices that start at 5:30 in the morning and go until 7 in the morning. We typically have 4 practices a week but if we are lucky it is only 3 days a week. To start off, we go ahead and stretch to avoid pulling any muscles since we are doing many rapid movements.
Depending if we are either in basketball season or football season we will go over chants and sidelines. This gives us a refresher before every game to help us be as sharp as we can be. We either are learning new choreography or cleaning a dance that is about ready to be performed.
Not many put in mind everything spirit line does to prepare. It doesn’t just consist of practices. It’s also being there at least an hour before the game to finish final touch ups, make sure our uniforms are clean and put together, run the dances a few times to really lock them in before we go onto the field or court.
