As the year is coming to an end, so is Danceline. This being our last assembly of the year and for our seniors the last one forever. As soon as we were done with the competition, we got to work. We had about a week break and then quickly after we went back at it.
We started practicing this dance about a month in advance. When we walked into the studio we were given our formations and played the song. For me at least, hearing the music playing it made me look back on this past year and how the end was near.
The day of assembly comes around and the vibes are high especially since it is also the last assembly of the school year. Danceline starts to line up against the sides of the gym, doing sidelines to hype up the crowd. Then it is our time to perform. The second you walk onto the court, a bunch of nervousness but excitement rush into your body. The second the music plays your body automatically reacts. Your brain shuts down and your body takes over. It is such an indescribable feeling until you’re out there performing and having fun.
The rest of assembly was nothing but fun. A bunch of games some very funny and others quite nasty. Assemblies in a way are done to bring the whole together in one place and have a good time while making important school announcements. For example, prom was quickly approaching.
Danceline had officially finished their season, no more morning practices, no more stressing about learning a new dance every week, no more game day makeup. But most sadly, there is no next year with the same group of girls, who you would call family.
