Ceramics Club has officially opened up as of January 27th. Ceramics clubs can be found in the IA building in room 406. It takes place every Tuesday after school from 2:15 to 3:45, and Thursdays during flex.
“The first week has been very chill,” says club secretary Faith Atkins. “It’s perfect for both introverts and extroverts. If you want a quiet space to work, this is it; but if you’re looking to make friends, our members are incredibly kind and helpful.” The club offers a welcoming environment for all skill levels. The members are kind and helpful, so they would make good friends!
Zion Atkins, a ceramics club member said, “If you are new to ceramics, we are currently learning basic building skills and how to make bowls for the Empty Bowls charity.” Most recently, the club celebrated the season by crafting ceramic hearts. Using slabs of clay and custom cutouts, members created unique pieces that captured the spirit of February.
Ceramics club was working on ceramic hearts for Valentine’s Day. The process includes : flattening out a slab of clay, putting tissue down, and then using a heart cutout to create a heart. Though Valentines day is over, the craft still represents February!
