Covering the history of Hispanic heritage, one story that sticks with many people is the story of Los Niños Heroes in the battle of Chapultepec during the Mexican-American war. were six Mexican military cadets who were killed in the defence of Mexico City during the Battle of Chapultepec, one of the last major battles of the Mexican-American war, on 13 September 1847.
The date of the battle is now celebrated in Mexico as a civic holiday to honor the cadets’ sacrifice. the six cadets refused to fall back and fought to the death. Legend has it that the last of the six, Juan Escutia, leaped from Chapultepec Castle wrapped in the Mexican flag to prevent the flag from being taken by the enemy and to honor their country.
