Since 2016 the makeup industry has changed drastically. For instance, there was a makeup trend called the ¨Instagram Brow” and it was a very popular trend that lasted throughout the years and for some people it was never a trend. An Instagram brow is when pomade (a type of makeup for eyebrows) is used to make your eyebrows look more darker. This look has an ombre effect on the ends it darker and towards the front is lighter. This look is very popular then and now so it was never a trend for others.
The Complexion ¨Matte and Bake¨
This look is to make your makeup look flawless and have a matte finish. After you are done setting your under eyes you put any powder to ¨bake¨ and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This makeup look was often called ¨Instagram Baddie¨ or ¨Full glam¨. This is where your makeup is matte and smooth instead of your face being dewy. A lot of people still do this since it’s kind of essential for makeup.
The Eyes ¨The Cut Crease¨
A cut crease is on the eyelid with concealer and usually looks like that. Concealer is most likely used for the base layer and to make that crease affect. After making your crease you can add the powder products like eyeshadow or glitter. The cute crease is where makeup is on your eyelid which makes your eyes stand out. Cut crease created a highlighted look on the eyes.
The Glow ¨Blinding Highlighter¨
In 2016, there no such thing as a subtle look when it comes to highlighter. Many people added a lot of highlighter on their cheekbones, nose, and eyebrow bone. A lot of people said that you could be ¨seen from space¨. At the time, the highlighter was warm tone and now it’s a cool tone. Now, it’s easier to use because there are a variety of highlighters to use like liquid, powder, or anything glitter.
The 2016 makeup evolution proved that beauty is a result of self-expression, and leaving behind such an iconic era of the 21st century. In this time period, taking 2 hours to do your makeup was normalized and watching videos online to learn how to do your makeup better was a whole new tool with makeup tutorials and makeup ¨hacks¨. Whoever could have the most ¨flawless base¨ was the most idolized. Whoever was the most matte by the end of the day was who you wanted to be.
