Our school’s soccer team this year has a long history. Most of our Senior varsity players have known each other since they were in elementary school, so this being their last year playing together is very nostalgic.
Oscar Lopez says that he has know Aiden Zarate and Benjamin Quiroz since 2nd grade so their connection has improved a lot through out their high school years. Aiden Zarate says he feels “happy to be able to play with childhood friends and reconnecting one last time before heading to college”. Some also feel sad because they “can’t see their close friends anymore”. Most of their favorite memories from soccer have been messing around at practice and hanging out with each other after every game.
Varsity captain, Oscar Lopez, has had a love for soccer from a really young age. His dad got him into soccer because he would accompany him to games. He joined a little league team which is where he met most of his current teammates. This being his last year makes hims very emotional because “this is potentially my last year playing competitively”.
They are all very proud of how far they have come and are excited to see what comes next.
