As the seasons change, so do our school’s sports! Winter sports have come to an end and our spring sports are rolling in. Introducing: Track, Softball, Baseball, Beach Volleyball, and Tennis. These upcoming games and meets are going to be the highlight of spring and end of the 2026 school year! However, the real attention should be on the players and participants of these sports. Our student athletes are working hard everyday in their academics in order to be able to show out on the field and represent North Canyon.
An example of an excelling athletic student is Isis Quintana, a senior varsity player for our very own softball team. This will be Isis’ last year playing for North Canyon and says she will be excited to go out there and have fun. This year, she wants to focus on making fun memories with her teammates out on the field. Isis believes that this season, her and her teammates will get very close and form stronger friendships!
“We’ve been with each other for so long and we have the same wants and enjoy it. We don’t have pressure on us as a team anymore, so I’m excited!” – Isis Quintana
Another great example of an outstanding athletic student is Lanaya McCloud. Lanaya is a senior here at North Canyon who proudly carries the title of state champion for high jump and has been doing track since her freshman year. With this being her last year and season in high school, Lanaya says it’s going to be “bittersweet” because it’ll be hard parting ways with her coaches and teammates but she’s excited to see what the future holds for her. She believes this season will go very well because she has high expectations for the girls’ track team and hopes to break multiple state records!
“We’re aiming to win state, both divisions and open! This season will definitely be a lot of fun and something special!” -Lanaya McCloud
We hope to see the students continue giving it their all in the sports they play and wish them the best of luck on their goals and season! Stay tuned to hear more from the other teams and clubs soon.
