It is known to be a tradition that towards the end of the season, on the last home game we celebrate our seniors. Also known as senior night. Danceline actually gets the opportunity to have two senior night, both football and basketball season. During football season we unfortunately we were taken away the opportunity to walk the field. This time around we were trying to go all out since we never got a proper first senior night.
The way Danceline works, since there so many seniors we make two groups. One group would choreograph a dance for football senior night while the other group would choreograph a dance for basketball senior night. Around a week and a half before senior night, the seniors will start teaching their parts of the dance to the rest of the team. Everyone’s dance is different and unique which really showcases who they are and what type of style of dance really expresses their personality.
Towards the end of practices right when we are about to get to our senior night, we start thinking of what we will be wearing. Those seniors that are choreographing have the opportunity to choose what everyone else is wearing, even if they do not agree with it.
On senior night, the overall vibes are high, all the seniors celebrating they are almost done with their high school career. At the beginning of the game we gather up all of our parents and walk across the court as we get recognition as well as what our future plans are. The game begins and eventually we get to half time, where we are able to perform one of our last dances of the season. Throughout the whole night it was a bunch of tears, of sadness but also of happiness.
